Crucial: LGBTQ+ identity is not a disorder.The suffering frequently results from societal disapproval, not the individual itself.
Symptoms of Distress
- Fear of being “discovered”
- Shame that has been internalized
- Loneliness or sadness
- Fear of being rejected by family
- Having trouble expressing who you really are
- Suicidal ideation (in extreme, unsubstantiated situations)

- Individuals with a history of self- suppression
- People who live in situations that are orthodox or unfavorable
- Somebody who is unsure of their sexuality or identity

- Establish judgment-free, secure environments
- Promote social circles that are supportive.
